उपराष्ट्रपति ने कहा कि विश्व की 60 प्रतिशत आबादी एशिया में रहती है और यह क्षेत्र प्राकृतिक आपदाओं से सबसे ज्यादा प्रभावित होता है। उन्होंने कहा कि इस बात को ध्यान में रखकर एशियाई देशों की सरकारों को हर तरह की जलवायु बर्दाश्त करने वाले मकान बनाने चाहिए।
Pointing that more than 60 of the worlds population resides in Asia and the region was most affected by natural disasters, the Vice President said that governments in Asia must build climate resilient habitats.
मिश्रा ने किया। उन्होंने कहा कि भारत मौसम तथा जलवायु से संबंधित नुकसान तथा क्षति का अनुभव कर रहा है। उन्होंने कहा कि केरल की बाढ़ तथा ओखी चक्रवात दुर्लभ घटनाएं हैं।
P. K. Mishra, who mentioned that India has been experiencing weather and climate related loss and damage, the Kerala floods and Ockhi being the rarest of the rare events.
उन्होंने कहा कि भारत ने जलवायु न्याय सुनिश्चित करने के लिए संकल्प व्यक्त किया है। उन्होंने कहा कि विकसित देशों द्वारा कमजोर तथा विकासशील देशों को समर्थन देनेमें और अधिक संकल्प दिखाना होगा। इसमें वित्तीय तथा क्षमता सृजन समर्थन शामिल है।
He further underlined that India has committed to ensuring climate justice and mentioned the need for the developed countries to show greater commitment to support the most vulnerable and developing countries, including financial and capacity building support.
इसमें यह स्पष्ट हुआ कि केवल छोटे द्वीपीय राज्य ही नहीं बल्कि भारत जैसेदेश भी जलवायु नुकसान और क्षति के जोखिम दायरे में हैं।
It was brought out that it is not only a Small Island States issue, but also for countries like India which who are at the risk of facing climate induced loss and damage.
