क्या उस शख्स (मोहम्मद) ने खुदा पर झूठ तूफान बाँधा है या उसे जुनून (हो गया) है (न मोहम्मद झूठा है न उसे जुनून है) बल्कि खुद वह लोग जो आख़ेरत पर ईमान नहीं रखते अज़ाब और पहले दरजे की गुमराही में पड़े हुए हैं

क्या तुम्हें उन लोगों की ख़बर नहीं पहुँची जिन्होंने इससे पहले इनकार किया था, फिर उन्होंने अपने कर्म के वबाल का मज़ा चखा और उनके लिए एक दुखद यातना भी है

वह जिसे चाहता है अपनी दयालुता में दाख़िल करता है। रहे ज़ालिम, तो उनके लिए उसने दुखद यातना तैयार कर रखी है

और वह उन लोगों की प्रार्थनाएँ स्वीकार करता है जो ईमान लाए और उन्होंने अच्छे कर्म किए। और अपने उदार अनुग्रह से उन्हें और अधिक प्रदान करता है। रहे इनकार करनेवाले, तो उनके लिए कड़ा यातना है

और जो लोग ईमान लाए और अच्छे अच्छे काम करते रहे उनकी (दुआ) क़ुबूल करता है फज़ल व क़रम से उनको बढ़ कर देता है और काफिरों के लिए सख्त अज़ाब है

उन्होंने आगे समझाया कि यह सजा वास्तव में कभी सम्मानित नहीं की गयी थी
