विशेष रूप से किसानों को समर्पित दूरदर्शन के चैनल ‘डीडी किसान’ की लांचिंग के अवसर पर नई दिल्‍ली स्थित विज्ञान भवन में उपस्थित किसानों को संबोधित करते हुए प्रधानमंत्री ने ‘तहसील’ को कृषि नियोजन एवं विकास की इकाई बनाने पर भी जोर दिया।
Addressing a gathering of farmers at New Delhi’s Vigyan Bhawan on the occasion of the launch of DD Kisan, Doordarshan’s channel dedicated exclusively to farmers, the Prime Minister also called for making the “Tehsil” the unit of agricultural planning and development.
प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि डीडी किसान चैनल को हमेशा सजग रहते हुए मौसम, वैश्विक बाजारों इत्यादि में होने वाले बदलावों से किसानों को अवगत कराते रहना चाहिए, ताकि किसान पहले से ही उपयुक्‍त योजनाएं बना सकें और समय पर सही निर्णय ले सकें।
The Prime Minister said the DD Kisan channel should keep an eye and inform farmers about the changes in weather, global markets etc., so that farmers can plan ahead and take the right decisions well in time.
उन्‍होंने कहा कि डीडी किसान चैनल प्रगतिशील किसानों के प्रयासों को सभी लोगों के सामने लाने का काम भी कर सकता है, ताकि उनके अभिनव कदमों को देश भर में आजमाया जा सके।
He said DD Kisan channel can also highlight the efforts of progressive farmers, so that their innovations can be replicated across the country.

इसके अलावा पत्र सूचना कार्यालय के यू-ट्यूब चैनल पर मुख्य गतिविधियों को लाइव दर्शाया जाएगा।

वहीं, बैच-II के अंतर्गत 48 शहरों में 66 चैनल बेचे गए थे।
