Based on popular demand, we now have pronunciation information in Hindi.  English pronunciation in other Indian languages is coming soon! As usual, please let us know if you have questions, complaints or compliments.

After six years as a English-Hindi dictionary, we are now extending this site to other Indian languages. Over time, we will continue to make these dictionaries better. As always, we welcome your feedback!

Urdu contributions

Many of the recent contributions are English-Urdu translation pairs. While we adore Urdu as a language, please be aware that this dictionary is an English-Hindi dictionary. So, please only contribute those Urdu words that are regularly used in Hindi speaking areas. And while doing so, please indicate Urdu as the language of origin of the word you are contributing. We hope you will help make this distinction!
