ഇന്ത്യ, ശ്രീലങ്ക, മ്യാന്മാർ എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിൽ വളരുന്ന ചെറുവൃക്ഷമാണ് കണിക്കൊന്ന അഥവാ ഓഫീർപ്പൊന്ന്; ഇംഗ്ലീഷ്: ഗോൾഡൻ ഷവർ ട്രീ, ഇന്ത്യൻ ലാബർനം. ലെഗുമിനോസേ അഥവാ ഫാബേഷിയേ കുടുംബത്തിൽപ്പെട്ട ഇതിന്റെ ശാസ്ത്രീയ നാമം കാസ്സിയ ഫിസ്റ്റുല എന്നാണ്. ഒരു ജനപ്രിയ അലങ്കാര സസ്യമായ ഈ വൃക്ഷത്തിൻറെ വേനൽക്കാലത്ത് പൂക്കുന്ന ഈ സ്വർണാഭമായ പൂക്കളാണ് ഇതിനെ ആകർഷകമാക്കുന്നത്.

The species is native to the Indian subcontinent and adjacent regions of Southeast Asia. It is the official state flower of Kerala state and Delhi UT in India. It is also a popular ornamental plant and is also used in herbal medicine.
