1. मगर की जाति का एक जलजंतु । विशेष—मगर से इसमें यह अंतर होता है कि यह उतनी लंवी नहीं होती, पर चौडी़ अधिक होती हैं । मुँह भी इसका अधिक चिपटा होता है और उसपर घडा़ या थूथन नहीं होता । पूँछ में काँटे स्पष्ट नहीं होते । यह जमीन पर मगर से अधिक दूर तक जाकर जानवरों को खींच ला सकती है । सरजू तथा उसमें मिलनेवाली और छोटी छोटी नदियों में यह बहुत पाई जाती है ।

6. मुखमंडल की मांस- पोशियों और अस्थियों के उभार से बना हुआ लन के रूप का वह अवयव जिसके दोनों छेद मुखविवर और फुस्फुस से मिले रहते हैं और जिससे घ्राण का अनुभव और श्वास प्रश्वास का व्यापार होता है । सूँघने और साँस लेने की इंद्रिय । नासा । नासिका । विशेष—नाक का भीतरी अस्तर छिद्रमय मांस की झिल्ली का होता है जो बाराबर कपालधट और नेत्र के गोलकों तक गई, रहती है, इसी झिल्ली तक मस्तिष्क के वे संवेदनसूत्र आए रहते हैं जिनसे घ्राण का व्यापार अर्थात् गंध का अनुभव होता है । इसी से होकर वायु भीतर जाती है जिसमें गंधवाले अणु रहते हैं । इस झिल्ली का ऊपरवाला भाग ही गंधवाहक होता है, नीचे का नहीं । नीचे तक संवेदनसूत्र नहीं रहते । नासारंध्र का मुखविवर, नेत्रगोलक, कवालघट आदि से संबंध होने के कारण नाक से स्वर और स्वाद का भी बहुत कुछ साधन होता है तथा कपाल के भीतर कोशों में इकट्ठा होनेवाला मल और आँख का आँसू भी निकलता है । जीबविज्ञानियों का कहना है कि उठी हुई नाक मनुष्य की उन्नत जातियों का चिह्न है, हबशी आदि असभ्य जातियों की नाक बहुत चिपटी होती है ।
7. कपाल के कोशों आदि का मल जो नाक से निकलता है । रेंट । नेटा ।
8. चरखे में लगी हुई एक चिपटी लंकडी़ जो अगले खूँटे के आगे निकले हुए बेलन के सिरे पर लगी रहती है और जिसे पकड़कर चरखा घुमाते हैं ।
9. लकडी़ का वह डंडा जिसपर चढा़कर बरतन खरादे जाते हैं ।
10. प्रतिष्ठा की वस्तु । श्रेष्ठ बा प्रधान वस्तु । शोभा की वस्तु । जैसे,—वे ही तो इस शहर की नाक हैं ।

नाक रीढ़धारी प्राणियों में पाया जाने वाला छिद्र है। इससे हवा शरीर में प्रवेश करती है जिसका उपयोग श्वसन क्रिया में होता है। नाक द्वारा सूँघकर किसी वस्तु की सुगंध को ज्ञात किया जा सकता है।

Behind the nasal cavity, air next passes through the pharynx, shared with the digestive system, and then into the rest of the respiratory system. In humans, the nose is located centrally on the face and serves as an alternative respiratory passage especially during suckling for infants. The protruding nose that is completely separate from the mouth part is a characteristic found only in therian mammals. It has been theorized that this unique mammalian nose evolved from the anterior part of the upper jaw of the reptilian-like ancestors (synapsids).
