- थैली या उसके आकार की और कोई चीज जिसके अंदर गरम हवा या हवा से हलकी किसी प्रकार की भाप आदि भरकर आकाश में उडा़ते हैं । विशेष—इसके बनाने में पहले रेशम या इसी प्रकार की और किसी चीज के थैले पर रबर की या और बार्निश चढा़कर उसमें से हवा या भाप निकलने का मार्ग बंद कर देते हैं और तब उसमें गरम हवा या हवा से हलकी और कोई भाप भर देते हैं । इस थैले को एक जाल में भरकर उस जाल के नीचे कोई बडा़ संदूक या खटोला बाँध देते हैं जिसमें आदमी बेठते हैं । गुब्बारा हवा से हलका होने के कारण आकाश में उड़ने लगता है । उसे नीचे लाने के लिये इसमें की गरम हवा या भाप निकाल देते हैं ।
- गुब्बारे के आकार का कागज का बना हुआ बडा़ गोला । विशेष—इसके नीचे तेल से भीगा हुआ कपडा़ जलाकर रख देते हैं । इसके धुएँ से गोला भर जाता और आकाश में उड़ने लगता है । इसका व्यवहार आतिशबाजी में या विवाह आदि शुभ अवसरों पर होता है ।
