ईरानी भारतीय उपमहाद्वीप में फैले एक नस्ली वर्ग को कहते हैं जो पिछले 1000 सालों में यहाँ आए हैं। अक्सर ईरानियों को पारसियों के समान समझने की भूल की जाती है। पारसी वो लोग हैं जो 1000 साल के पहले भारत में आए जबकि ईरानी वो लोग हैं जो उसके बाद आए। इन दोनों में इतनी समानता है कि वे ज़रथुष्ट्र के अनुयायी थे और इस्लाम की प्रताड़ना के बचने के लिए भारत आए। ईरानी लोग खासकर 1830 के बाद आए जब ईरान में क़जर राजवंश के समय गैर-मुसलमानों को सताया जाने लगा।

The Irani are an ethno-religious community in the Indian subcontinent; they descend from the Zoroastrians who emigrated from Iran to British India in the 19th and 20th centuries. They are culturally, linguistically, ethnically and socially distinct from the Parsis, who – although also Zoroastrians – immigrated to the Indian subcontinent from Greater Iran many centuries prior, starting with the Islamic conquest of Persia.
