A satrap was a governor of the provinces of the ancient Median and Persian (Achaemenid) Empires and in several of their successors, such as in the Sasanian Empire and the Hellenistic empires. A satrapy is the territory governed by a satrap.

सात्राप या क्षत्राप प्राचीन फ़ारस के मीदि साम्राज्य और हख़ामनी साम्राज्य के प्रान्तों के राज्यपालों को कहा जाता था। इस शब्द का प्रयोग बाद में आने वाले सासानी और यूनानी साम्राज्यों ने भी किया। आधुनिक युग में किसी बड़ी शक्ति के नीचे काम करने वाले नेता को कभी-कभी अनौपचारिक रूप से 'सात्राप' कहा जाता है। किसी सात्राप के अधीन क्षेत्र को सात्रापी (satrapy) कहा जाता था।
