Extortion is the practice of obtaining benefit through coercion. In most jurisdictions it is likely to constitute a criminal offence; the bulk of this article deals with such cases. Robbery is the simplest and most common form of extortion, although making unfounded threats in order to obtain an unfair business advantage is also a form of extortion.

ज़बरदस्ती वसूली एक अपराध है जिसके अंतरगत दोषी व्यक्ति अपने पीड़ित से पैसा, संपत्ति, सेवा आदि ज़बरदस्ती से प्राप्त करता है। पीड़ित व्यक्ति भी हो सकता है या कोई संस्थान भी हो सकती है। इसे कभी कभी-कभी सुरक्षा रैकिट भी कहा जाता है, क्योंकि इस अवैध धंदे को चलाने वाले सुरक्षा की दृष्टि से पैसे को माँगते हैं ताकि वास्तविक या काल्पनिक धमकियों से उन्हें बचाया जा सके। इसके लिए कई बार हिंसा की धमकी भी दी जाती है।
