ਡੀਜ਼ਲ ਜਾਂ ਡੀਜ਼ਲ ਬਾਲਣ ਆਮ ਤੌਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਤਰਲ ਬਾਲਣ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਡੀਜ਼ਲ ਇੰਜਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਰਤਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਆਮ ਕਿਸਮ ਕੱਚੇ ਪੈਟਰੋਲ ਦਾ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਕਸਰੀ ਕਸ਼ੀਦੀ ਉਪਜ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਕੱਚੇ ਪੈਟਰੋਲ ਤੋਂ ਨਾ ਬਣਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਵਿਕਲਪ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਬਾਇਓ ਡੀਜ਼ਲ, ਬੀ.ਟੀ.ਐੱਲ. ਜਾਂ ਜੀ.ਟੀ.ਐੱਲ. ਤੇਜੀ ਨਾਲ਼ ਵਿਕਸਤ ਅਤੇ ਅਪਣਾਏ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਇਹਨਾਂ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਦੱਸਣ ਲਈ ਪਟਰੋਲੀਅਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਣੇ ਡੀਜ਼ਲ ਨੂੰ ਪੈਟਰੋਡੀਜ਼ਲ ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾਣਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
