तलवार हे समोरासमोरच्या लढाईत वापरायचे शस्त्र आहे. हे इतिहासकाळापासूनचे सर्वात प्रसिद्ध असे शस्त्र आहे. तलवार हे राजघराण्यातील लोकांचे भुषण होते. शिवाजी महाराजांचे हे प्रमुख हत्यार होते. मराठा तलवारी हया विशेष बनावटीच्या होत्या प्रमुख व निवडक महाराजांच्या मर्जीतील लोकांना ख़ास मराठा धोप मानाच्या पोशाखा सोबत दिल्या जात.
