बहुतृषा, जिसे अक्सर पोलियो या 'पोलियोमेलाइटिस' भी कहा जाता है एक विषाणु जनित भीषण संक्रामक रोग है जो आमतौर पर एक व्यक्ति से दूसरे व्यक्ति मे संक्रमित विष्ठा या खाने के माध्यम से फैलता है। इसे 'बालसंस्तंभ', 'बालपक्षाघात', बहुतृषा (Poliomyelitis) तथा 'बहुतृषा एंसेफ़लाइटिस' (Polioencephalitis) भी कहते हैं। यह एक उग्र स्वरूप का बच्चों में होनेवाला रोग है, जिसमें मेरुरज्जु के अष्टश्रृंग तथा उसके अंदर स्थित धूसर वस्तु में अपभ्रंशन (degenaration) हो जाता है और इसके कारण चालकपक्षाघात हो जाता है।
