जूरी NOUN
- वे कुछ व्यक्ति जो अदालत में जज के साथ बैठकरक खून, डाकाजनी, राजद्रोह, षडयंत्र आदि से संगीन मामलों को सुनते और अंत में अभियुक्त या अभियुक्तों के अपराधी या निरपराध होने के संबंध में अपना मत देते हैं । पंच । सालिस । जैसे,— जूरी ने एकमत होकर उसे चोर बताया तदनुसार जज ने उसे छोड़ दिया । विशेष— जूरी के लोग नागरिकों में से चुने जाते हैं । इन्हें वेतन नहीं मिलता । खर्च भर मिलता है । इन्हें निष्पक्ष रहकर न्याय करने की शपथ करनी पड़ती है । जब तक किसी मामले की सुनवाई नहीं हो लेती, इन्हें बराबर अदालत मे उपस्थित होना पड़ता है । और देशों में जज इनका बहुमत मानने को बाध्य है और तदनुसार ही अपना फैसला देता है । पर हिंदुस्तान में यह बात नहीं है । हाई कोर्ट और चीफ कोर्ट को छोड़कर, जिले के दौरा जज जूरी का मत मानने के लिये बाध्य नहीं है । जूरि से मतैक्य न होने की अवस्था में वे मामले हाई कोर्ट या चीफ कोर्ट भेज सकते हैं ।
- घास, पत्तों या टहनियों का एक बँधा हुआ छोटा पूला । जुट्टी । जैसे, तमाखू की जूरी ।
- सूरन आदि के नए कल्ले जो बँधे हुए निकलते हैं ।
- एक पकवान जो पौधों के नए बंधे हुए कल्लों को गीले बेसन में लपेटकर तलने से बनता है ।
- एक प्रकार का पौधा या झाड़ जिससे क्षार बनता है । विशेष— यह पौधा गुजरात, कराची आदि के खारे दलदलों में होता है ।
