- दादी । पितामही । विशेष—इस शब्द का व्यवहार में श्रेष्ठ या बडी बूढी़ स्त्रियों के लिये होता है ।
- अर्धमात्रिक छंद का नाम । इसके पहले और तीसरे चरण में बारह बारह तथा दूसरे और चौथे चरम में १५ मात्राएँ होती हैं । विशेष—इस छंद में चार मात्राओं के गण को समूह कहते हैं । इसके पहसे, तीसरे, पाँचवें और सातवें चरण में जगण का निषेध है । छठे गण में जगण होना चाहिए । जैसे,— रामा, रामा, रामा, आठौ यामा, जपौ यही नाम । त्यागौ सारे कामा, पैहौ बैकुंठ विश्रामा । आर्य के मुख्य पाँच भेद हैं — (१) आर्या या गाहा, (२) गीति या उग्गाहा (३) उपगीति या गाहू, (४) उद्रगीति या विग्गाहा और (५) आर्यगीति या स्कंधक या रवंधा । यौ०.—आर्यासप्तशती = गोवर्धनाचार्य का आर्या छंद में निबद्ध लगभग ७०० छंदों का संस्कृत मुक्तक काव्य ।
