A ventilator is a type of breathing apparatus, a class of medical technology that provides mechanical ventilation by moving breathable air into and out of the lungs, to deliver breaths to a patient who is physically unable to breathe, or breathing insufficiently. Ventilators may be computerized microprocessor-controlled machines, but patients can also be ventilated with a simple, hand-operated bag valve mask. Ventilators are chiefly used in intensive-care medicine, home care, and emergency medicine and in anesthesiology.

संवातक या श्वसित्र (ventilator) एक चिकित्सा सम्बन्धी युक्ति है जो उन रोगियों के काम आती है जो स्वयं सांस नहीं ले पाते या जिन्हें सांस लेने में कठिनाई होती है। मूल रूप से संवातक यांत्रिक कम्पन के द्वारा फेफड़ों से हवा अन्दर-बाहर करते थे। आधुनिक संवातक माइक्रोप्रोसेसर से नियंत्रित मशीनें होतीं हैं, किन्तु आवश्यकता होने पर बिल्कुल सरल हाथ से चलाई जाने वाली बैग-वाल्व मास्क की सहायता से भी रोगियों को श्वसन कराया जा सकता है। संवादकों का उपयोग प्रायः सघन चिकित्सा इकाइयों (ICU) में किया जाता है या घर पर चिकित्सा में या आकस्मिक चिकित्सा में किया जाता है।
