રાસાયણિક તત્વ અથવા તત્વ એ શુદ્ધ રાસાયણિક પદાર્થ છે જેનો સંપૂર્ણ જથ્થો એક જ પ્રકારના પરમાણુઓનો બનેલો હોય છે, અને દરેક પરમાણુના કેન્દ્રમાં સરખી સંખ્યામાં પ્રોટોન આવેલા હોય છે. આ પ્રોટોનની સખ્યાને તે તત્વનો પરમાણુ ક્રમાંક કહેવામાં આવે છે. આ તત્વોનું સામાન્ય રાસાયણિક રીતો દ્વારા વધુ સાદા ઘટકોમાં વિભાજન કરી શકાતું નથી. કાર્બન, ઓક્સીજન, એલ્યુમિનિયમ, લોખંડ, તાંબુ, સોનું, પારો, સીસું, સોડિયમ, મેગ્નેશિયમ વગેરે રાસાયણિક તત્વોના ઉદાહરણો છે. તત્વોનું વર્ગીકરણ આવર્ત કોષ્ટક રૂપે કરવામાં આવેલ છે. અત્યાર સુધીમાં ૧૧૮ તત્વો શોધાયા છે, જેમાંથી પરમાણુ ક્રમાંક ૧ થી પરમાણુ ક્રમાંક ૯૪ સુધીના તત્વો કુદરતી રીતે પૃથ્વી પર મળી આવે છે જ્યારે બાકીના ૨૪ તત્વો કૃત્રિમ રીતે પ્રયોગશાળામાં બનાવવામાં આવે છે. કુલ ૮૦ તત્વો સ્થાયિત્વ ધરાવે છે, જ્યારે બાકીના બીજા - પરમાણુ ક્રમાંક ૪૩, ૬૧ તેમજ ૮૪થી આગળનાં - એમ કુલ ૩૮ તત્વો વિકિરણ-ઉત્સર્ગી ગુણધર્મો ધરાવે છે.
