ગંધક (સલ્ફર) એ એક રાસાયણિક તત્વ છે જેનો અણુ ક્રમાંક ૧૬ અને સંજ્ઞા S છે. આ વિપુલ પ્રમાણમાં ઉપલબ્ધ એવું અધાતુ તત્વ છે તે પરિવર્તી બંધનાંક ધરાવે છે. સામાન્ય ઉષ્ણતામન અને દબાણે ગંધકના પરમાણુઓ મળીને વલયાકાર અષ્ટક રચના બનાવે છે આથે ગંધકનું રાસયણિક સૂત્ર S₈ છે. શુદ્ધ સ્વરૂપે ગંધક સ્ફટીકમય અને પીળારંગનો હોય છે. રાસાયણિક દ્રષ્ટિએ ગંધક ઓક્સિકારક અને ક્ષપણ કારક હોય છે. તે મોટા ભાગની દરેક ધાતુ તત્વો અને અમુક કાર્બન સહીત અમુક અધાતુઓનું ઓક્સિડેશન કરે છે જેને પરિણામે તેના ઋણભારિત ઓર્ગેનોગંધક સંયોજનો બને છે. આ સાથે તે અમુક તીવ્ર ઓક્સિકારકો જેમકે ઓક્સિજન અને ફ્લોરિનનું ક્ષપણ પણ કરે છે.
