Geology is a branch of natural science concerned with the Earth and other astronomical objects, the rocks of which they are composed, and the processes by which they change over time. Modern geology significantly overlaps all other Earth sciences, including hydrology. It is integrated with Earth system science and planetary science.

ਭੂ-ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਉਹ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਧਰਤੀ, ਧਰਤੀ ਦੀ ਉਸਾਰੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਚਟਾਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਚਟਾਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਦੇ ਅਮਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਘੋਖ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਇਹਦੇ ਤਹਿਤ ਧਰਤੀ ਸੰਬੰਧੀ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਮੁੱਖ ਟੀਚਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਅਮਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਪੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਪੁਰਾਣੇ ਦੌਰ ਤੋਂ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਆ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਜਿਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਤੀਜੇ ਸਦਕਾ ਧਰਤ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਬਦਲਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਭਾਵੇਂ ਉਹਦੀ ਰਫ਼ਤਾਰ ਆਮ ਤੌਰ 'ਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਮੰਦ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
