हायड्रेटेड पोटॅशियम अ‍ॅल्युमिनियम सल्फेट (इंग्रजी:Potassium alum किंवा नुसतेच alum, मराठी उच्चार :ॲलम) (रासायनिक सूत्र:(K₂SO₄.Al₂(SO₄)₃.24H₂O)) या संयुगाला मराठीमध्ये तुरटी असे म्हणतात. तुरटीचे सर्वसामान्य रासायनिक सूत्र X₂SO₄. Y₂(SO₄)₃. 24H₂O असे आहे. बॉक्साइट तसेच ॲल्युनाइटवर प्रक्रिया करून तुरटी मिळवली जाते. तुरटीचे स्फटिक समकोन अष्टकोनाकृती असतात. गढूळ पाणी स्वच्छ करण्यास तुरटीचा उपयोग होतो. तुरटी पाण्यामध्ये फिरवली असता पाण्यामध्ये असलेल्या बारीक कणांवर असलेला विद्युतभार नाहीसा होतो. त्यामुळे आधी वेगवेगळे असलेले हे कण एकत्र येतात. वस्तुमान वाढल्याने ते जड झाले की पाण्यात खाली बसतात. यामुळे पाणी स्वच्छ झालेले दिसते. परंतु हे पाणी निर्जंतुक झालेले नसते. हे पाणी गाळून घेऊन ते उकळले तरच निर्जंतुक होते. भाज्या आणि फळे यांचा ताजेपणा टिकवण्यासाठी तुरटीचा उपयोग केला जातो. तुरटी ज्वलनशील नसल्याने कापड, लाकूड, कागद अशा ज्वलनशील पदार्थांचा ज्वलनाला विरोध वाढवण्यासाठी तुरटीच्या द्रावाचा उपयोग केला जातो. तुरटी तापविल्यास त्यातील स्फटिकजल बाष्परूपात बाहेर पडते. यामुळे तुरटी फुलते. अशा तुरटीला लाही म्हणतात.

Potassium alum, potash alum, or potassium aluminium sulfate is a chemical compound first found mentioned under various Sanskrit names in Ayurvedic medicinal texts such as Charak Samhita, Sushrut Samhita, and Ashtang Hridaya; is chemically defined as the double sulfate of potassium and aluminium, with chemical formula KAl(SO₄)₂. It is commonly encountered as the dodecahydrate, KAl(SO₄)₂·12H₂O. It crystallizes in an octahedral structure in neutral solution and cubic structure in an alkali solution with space group P a −3 and lattice parameter of 12.18 Å. The compound is the most important member of the generic class of compounds called alums, and is often called simply alum.
