பாலைவனம் (palaivanam) - Meaning in English

புவியியலின் படி எப்பகுதி மிகக்குறைந்த மழைப்பொழிவைப் பெறுகிறதோ அது பாலைவனம் எனப்படுகிறது. பொதுவாக ஆண்டுக்கு 250 மி. மீ. க்கும் குறைவாக மழைப்பொழிவைப் பெறும் பகுதிகள் பாலைவனங்கள் எனப்படுகின்றன. புவியின் நிலப்பரப்பில் ஐந்தில் ஒரு பகுதி பாலைவனம் ஆகும். பாலைவனங்கள் வறண்ட நிலப்பகுதிகள் ஆகும். இங்கு பகலில் வெப்பம் மிகுந்தும் இரவில் குளிர் மிகுந்தும் இருக்கும். பாலைவனங்கள் மனிதவாழ்க்கைக்கு உகந்ததாக இருப்பதில்லை.
