A boycott is an act of nonviolent, voluntary abstention from a product, person, organization, or country as an expression of protest. It is usually for moral, social, political, or environmental reasons. The purpose of a boycott is to inflict some economic loss on the target, or to indicate a moral outrage, usually to try to compel the target to alter an objectionable behavior.

बहिष्कार आमतौर पर नैतिक, सामाजिक, राजनीतिक, या पर्यावरणीय कारणों के लिए विरोध की अभिव्यक्ति के रूप में किसी व्यक्ति, संगठन या देश के उपयोग से स्वैच्छिक और जानबूझकर रोकथाम का कार्य है। बहिष्कार का उद्देश्य किसी आपत्तिजनक व्यवहार को कुछ आर्थिक नुकसान कर या नैतिक आक्रोश कर मजबूरन बदलने की कोशिश है। जब एक समान अभ्यास किसी राष्ट्रीय सरकार द्वारा कानूनित किया जाता है, तो उसे प्रतिबन्ध के रूप में जाना जाता है।
