అక్రోటుకాయ ఇది పర్షియన్ లేదా ఇంగ్లీష్ వాల్నట్. తెలుగులో దీనిని కొండగొనుగు పిక్క అని పిలుస్తారు. సంస్కృతంలో అక్షోటము అని పిలువబడే నామమే తర్వాతి కాలంలో హిందీ వంటి భాషలలోకి అక్రోట్, అక్రూటు గా రూపాంతరం చెందింది. జుగ్లాన్స్ రెజియా జాతికి చెందిన చెట్టు కాయ. ఈ కాయలు పూర్తిగా పండిన తరువాత పైన షెల్ తొలగించి, కెర్నెల్ తినబడుతుంది.
