अनेक वस्तूंची दुकाने एकाच ठिकाणी मांडली जातात व वस्तुविनिमय होऊन व्यापार होतो, अशा जागेस बाजार असे म्हणतात. येथे पैसे वापरून खरेदी व विक्री होते. बाजाराचे अनेक प्रकार आहेत जसे गावांमध्ये एका वारी आठवडी बाजार असतात. हे विशिष्ट वारीच भरतात.

Markets generally supplant gift economies and are often held in place through rules and customs, such as a booth fee, competitive pricing, and source of goods for sale.
