तणाव (Stress) हा एक मानसिक अवस्थेची व्याधी आहे. कोणताही प्रसंग अथवा प्रासंगिक बदलाला दिलेला नकारात्मक शारीरिक व भावनिक प्रतिसाद म्हणजे 'तणाव' होय. मनातील अनावश्यक व नकारात्मक विचारांच्या गर्दीमुळे मनाची जी स्थिती होते तिला `तणाव' असे म्हणतात. एखाद्या परिस्थितील मागण्या व उपलब्ध साधनसामुग्री यामध्ये असमतोल निर्माण झाल्याने शरिराची जी अवस्था होते तिला तणाव असे म्हणतात. परिस्थितीत अचानक बदल झाल्यामुळे अशी अवस्था निर्माण होते. तणाव शारीरिक अथवा मानसिक असू शकतो.

सध्याच्याकाळात ताण ही सर्वाना अनुभवी लागणारी बाब झाली आहे.फारच थोड्या व्यक्ती ताणाचे चागल्या प्रकारे व व्यस्थापन करताना दिसतात.

Stress, whether physiological, biological or psychological, is an organism's response to a stressor such as an environmental condition. When stressed by stimuli that alter an organism's environment, multiple systems respond across the body. In humans and most mammals, the autonomic nervous system and hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis are the two major systems that respond to stress. Two well-known hormones that humans produce during stressful situations are adrenaline and cortisol.
