ಔತಣ ಎಂದರೆ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಊಟ ಅಥವಾ ಭಾರಿ ಸವಿಯೂಟ. ಇದರಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಧಾನ ತಿನಿಸು/ಖಾದ್ಯಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಸಿಹಿತಿಂಡಿಗಳು ಇರುತ್ತವೆ, ಮತ್ತು ಹಲವುವೇಳೆ ಯಥೇಷ್ಟವಾಗಿ ವೈನ್ ಅಥವಾ ಬಿಯರ್‍ನಂತಹ ಮದ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಬಡಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಔತಣವು ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಧರ್ಮಾರ್ಥ ಕೂಟ, ಸಮಾರಂಭ, ಅಥವಾ ಆಚರಣೆಯಂತಹ ಉದ್ದೇಶವನ್ನು ನೆರವೇರಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಹಲವುವೇಳೆ ಇದರ ಮೊದಲು ಅಥವಾ ಆಮೇಲೆ ಒಬ್ಬ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯ ಗೌರವಾರ್ಥ ಭಾಷಣಗಳಿರುತ್ತವೆ.
