विद्या NOUN

  1. वह ज्ञान जो शिक्षा आदि के द्वारा उपार्जित या प्राप्त किया जाता है । वह जानकारी जो सीखकर हासिल की जाती है । किसी विषय का विशिष्ट ज्ञान । इल्म । जैसे,— (क) विद्या पढ़कर मनुष्य पंडित होता है । (ख) आजकल पाठशालाओं मों अनेक प्रकार की विद्याएँ पढ़ाई जाती हैं । विशेष—हमारे यहाँ विद्या दो प्रकार की मानी गई है—परा और अपरा । जिस विद्या के द्वारा ब्रह्मज्ञान होता है, वह परा विद्या और इसके अतिरिक्त जो अन्य लौकिक या पदार्थ विद्याएँ हैं, वे सब अपरा विद्या कहलाती हैं ।
  2. वह ज्ञान जिसके द्वारा मोक्ष की प्राप्ति या परमपुरुषार्थ की सिद्धि होती है ।
  3. वे शास्त्र आदि जिनके द्वारा ज्ञान प्राप्त किया जाता है । विशेष—हमारे यहाँ इनकी संख्या १८ बतलाई गई है । यथा— चारों वेद, छओ अंग, मीमांसा, न्याय, धर्मशास्त्र, पुराण, आयु- र्वेद, धनुर्वेद, गांधर्ववेद और अर्थशास्त्र ।
  4. दुर्गा ।
  5. देवी का मंत्र ।
  6. गनियारी ।
  7. सीता की एक सखी का नाम ।
  8. तंत्र में 'ई' अक्षर का वाचक शब्द ।
  9. छोटी घंटी ।
  10. ऐंद्रजालिक कौशल ।
  11. सिद्ध गुटिका । ऐंद्रजालिक गुटिका । विशेष—कहते हैं, इसे मुँह में रखने से व्यक्ति उड़ता हुआ कहीं भी गमन कर सकता था ।
  12. आर्या छंद का पाँचवाँ भेद, जिसमें चंद्रशेखर के मत से २३ गुरु और ११ लघु मात्राएँ होती हैं ।
