मदारी NOUN
- एक प्रकार के मुसलमान फकीर जो बंदर, भालू आदि नचाते और लाग के तमाशे दिखाते हैं । ये लोग शाह मदार के अनुयायी होते हैं । मदारिया । कलंदर । विशेष—इस संबंध में बताया जाता है कि शाह मदार का जन्म १०५० ईसवी में एक यहूदी के घर हुआ था और यह स्वयं इस्लाम धर्म में दीक्षित हुए थै । यह फरुँखाबाद में रहते थे और सुलतान शरकी के समय में कानपुर आऐ थे । उस समय कानपुर में 'मकनदेव' नामक़ जिन्न रहता था । शाह मदार उस जिन्न को वहाँ से निकालकर वहाँ रहने लगे । इसी से उस स्थान का नाम मकनपुर पड़ा । शाह मदार के विषय में यह प्रसिद्ध है कि वह चार सो वर्ष जीते रहे और सन् १४३३ में मरे थे । शाह मदार की समाधि मकनपुर में सुलतान इब्राहीम ने बनवाई थी । मुसलमान इन्हें जिंदाशाह कहते हैं और अबतक जीवित मानते हैं । शाह मदार का पूरा नाम बदिउद्दीन था ।

Description
बंदर-बंदरियों का तमाशा दिखाने वाले को मदारी कहते हैं। उसके साथ 2-3 बन्दर होते हैं जिनके गले में वह रस्सी बांधे रखते है ।
