बाल ADJ

1. जो सयाना न हो । जो पूरी बाढ़ का न पहुँचा हो ।
2. जिस उग या न निकल हुए थोड़ा ही दूर हो । जैसे, बालरवि ।

बाल NOUN

1. कुछ अनाजों के पीधों के डंठल का वह अग्र भाग जिसके चारों ओर दाने गुछे रहते हैं । जैसे, जौ, गेहूँ या ज्वार की बाल ।
2. एक प्रकार की मछली ।
3. अँगरेजी नाच ।
4. कंदुक । गेंद । जैसे, फुटबाल ।
5. सूत की सी वस्तु जो दूध पिलानेवाले जंतुओं के चमड़े का ऊपर इतनी अधिक होती है कि उनका चमड़ा ढका रहता है । लोम ओर केश । विशेष—नाखून, सीग, पर आदि के समान बाल भी कड़े पड़े हुए त्वक् के विकार ही हैं । उनमें न तौ संवेदनसूत्र होते हैं न रक्तवाहिनी नालियाँ । इसी से ऊपर से बाल को कतरने से किसी प्रकार की पीड़ा का अनुभव नहीं होता । बाल का कुछ भाग त्वचा से बाहर निकला रहता है और कुछ भीतर रहता है । जिस गड्ढे में बाल की जड़ रहती है उसे रोमकूप, लोमकूप कहते हैं । बाल की जड़ का नीचे का सिरा मोटा और सफेद रंग का होता है । बाल के दो भाग होते हैं, एक तो बाहरी तह और दूसरा मध्य का सार भाग । सार भाग आड़े रेशों से बना हुआ पाया जाता है । वहाँ तक वायु का संचार होता है ।
6. बालक । लड़का । वह जो सयाना नहो । वह जो जवान न हुआ हो । विशेष—मनुष्य जन्मकाल से प्रायः सोलह वर्ष की अवस्था तक बाल या बालक कहा जाता है ।
7. वह जिसको समझ न हो । नासमझ आदमी ।
8. मुक ।
9. सुगंधवाला नामक गंध ।
10. किसा पशु का बच्चा । बछेड़ा ।
11. करम । हाथी का पाँचवर्षीय बच्चा ।
12. नारियल ।
13. दुम ।
14. हाथी या घोड़े की दुम ।

Description

बाल (Hair) स्तनधारी प्राणियों के बाह्य चर्म का उद्वर्ध है। कीटों के शरीर पर जो तंतुमय उद्वर्ध होते हैं, उन्हें भी बाल कहते हैं। बाल कोमल से लेकर रुखड़ा, कड़ा और नुकीला तक होता है। प्रकृति ने ठंडे गर्म प्रभाव वाले क्षेत्रों में बसने बाले जीवों को बाल दिये हैं, जो जाडे की ॠतु में ठंड से रक्षा करते है और गर्मी में अधिक ताप से सिर की रक्षा करते हैं। जब शरीर से न सहने वाली गर्मी पडती है, तो शरीर से पसीना बहकर निकलता है, वह बालों के कारण गर्मी से जल्दी नहीं सूखता है, किसी कठोर वस्तु से अचानक हुए हमला से भी बाल बचाव करते है।
