झिलमिली NOUN
- एक दूसरे पर तिरछी लगी हुई बहुत सी आड़ी पटरियों का ढाँचा जो किवाड़ों और खिड़ाकियों आदि में जड़ा रहता है । खड़खड़िया । विशेष— थे सब पटरियाँ पीछे की ओर पतली लंबी लकड़ी या छड़ में ज़ड़ी होती हैं जिनकी सहयना से झिलमिली खोली या बंद की जाती है, । इसका व्यवहार बाहर से आनेवाला प्रकाश और गर्द आदि रोकने के लिये अथवा इसलिये होता है कि जिसमें बाहर से भीतर का दृश्य दिखालाई न पड़े । झिलमिली के पीछे लगी हुई लकड़ी या छड़ को जरा सा नीचे की ओर खोंचने से एक दूसरे पर पड़ी पटरियाँ अलग अखग खड़ी हो जाती हैं और उन सबके बीच में इतना अवकाश निकल आता है जिसमें से प्रकाश या वायु आदि अच्छी तरह आ सके ।

झिलमिली, खिड़कियों आदि में लगने वाला, आड़ी पटरियों से बना एक ढांचा है जो पीछे लगी छड़ को खींचने से खुलता और बन्द होता है। झिलमिली में आड़ी पटरियाँ को इस तरह लगाया जाता कि वो एक कोण पर खुलती हैं जो प्रकाश और हवा को तो अंदर आने देती हैं पर धूप और बारिश को बाहर ही रखती हैं। झिलमिली की पटरियाँ खुलती तो एक कोण पर हैं पर बन्द होने पर ऊपरी पटरी का कुछ हिस्सा निचली पटरी पर सट कर बंद होता है।
