चीढ़ NOUN
- एक प्रकार का बहुत ऊँचा पेड़ जो भूटान से काश्मीर और अफगनिस्तान में बहुत अधिकता से होता है । विशेष—इसके पत्ते सुंदर होते हैं और लकडी़ अंदर से नरम और चिकनी होती हैं जो प्रायः इमारत और सजावट के सामान बनाने के काम में आती है । पानी पड़ने से यह लकडी़ बहुत जल्दी खराब हो जाती है । इस लककडी़ में तेल अधिक होता है; इसलिये पहाडी़ लोग इसके टुकड़ों को जलाकर उनसे मशाल का काम लेते हैं । इसकी लकडी़ औषध के काम में भी आती है । इसके गोंद को गंधाबिरोजा कहते हैं । ताड़- पीन (तेल) भी इसी वृक्ष से निकलता है । कुछ लोग चिलगोजे को इसी का फल बताते हैं; पर चिलगोजा इसी जाति के दूसरे पेड़ का फल है । प्राचीन भारतीयों ने इसकी गणना गंधद्रव्य में की है और वैद्यक में इसे गरम, कासनाशक, चरपरा और कफनाशक कहा है । इसके अधिक सेवन से पित्त और कफ का दूर होना भी कहा है । इसे चील या सरल भी कहते हैं ।
