வடிவம் என்பது ஒரு பொருள் அல்லது அப்பொருளின் வெளிவரம்பு, அல்லது மேற்பரப்பு ஆகியவற்றின் வரைகலை உருவகிப்பாகும். ஒரு பொருளின் வடிவமானது அப்பொருளின் நிறம், நயம், மூலப்பொருளின் வகை போன்ற பிற பண்புகளுக்கு மாறானது. முப்பரிமாண வடிவங்களைப் (திண்மங்கள்) போலல்லாது, சமதள வடிவங்கள் ஒரு தளத்தில் மட்டுமே அமையும். இருபரிமாண வடிவங்கள் தளத்தில் மட்டுமல்லாமல் வளைந்த மேற்பரப்புகளின் மீதும் அமையக்கூடும்.

In geometry, shape excludes information about the object's location, scale, orientation and reflection. A figure is a representation including both shape and size.
