കൗമാരത്തിൽ നിന്ന് യൗവനത്തിലേക്കു കടക്കുമ്പോൾ ഉണ്ടാകുന്ന ഹോർമോണുകളുടെ ഏറ്റക്കുറച്ചിൽ മൂലം ഉണ്ടാകുന്ന കുരുവാണ് മുഖക്കുരു. പ്രായഭേദമില്ലാതെ പ്രത്യക്ഷപ്പെടുന്ന മുഖക്കുരു 14 മുതൽ 40 വയസ്സുവരെയുള്ള വ്യക്തികളെ കൂടുതലായി ബാധിക്കുന്നു. കവിളുകളിലും മുഖത്തും കറുത്തതോ വെളുത്തതോ ആയ അഗ്രവുമായി ചുവന്നുതുടുത്തു കാണുന്ന ചെറിയ കുരുക്കൾ മുതൽ കൂടുതൽ വലിയ മുഴകളുടെയും വീക്കത്തിന്റെയും രൂപത്തിൽ വരെ കാണപ്പെടുന്നവയെ മുഖക്കുരു എന്നു വിശേഷിപ്പിക്കുന്നു. കവിളുകളിൽ, കഴുത്തിൽ, നെഞ്ചത്ത്, മുതുകിൽ, തോൾഭാഗത്ത് എന്നുവേണ്ട കൈകളുടെ പുറത്തുവരെ ഇതിന്റെ വകഭേദങ്ങൾ പ്രത്യക്ഷപ്പെടാറുണ്ട്.

Acne, also known as acne vulgaris, is a long-term skin condition that occurs when dead skin cells and oil from the skin clog hair follicles. Typical features of the condition include blackheads or whiteheads, pimples, oily skin, and possible scarring. It primarily affects skin with a relatively high number of oil glands, including the face, upper part of the chest, and back.
