ಪ್ರಪಂಚದ ಅನೇಕ ಧರ್ಮಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನೀತಿಗಳ ಉಲ್ಲಂಘನೆಯೇ ಪಾಪ. ಹಿಂದೂ ಧರ್ಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಕೆಳಗಿನವನ್ನು ಅರಿಷಡ್ವರ್ಗಗಳೆಂದು ಹೇಳುವರು. ಮನುಷ್ಯ ನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಪ್ರಕೃತಿ ಸಹಜ ಗುಣಗಳು. ಅವು ಪಾಪ ಕರ್ಮಗಳಿಗೆ ಕಾರಣ ವಾಗುತ್ತವೆ. ಕಾಮ ಎಂದರೆ ಬಯಕೆ; ಇದು ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದಿದ್ದರೆ, ಧರ್ಮಸಮ್ಮತವಾದರೆ ತಪ್ಪಲ್ಲ. ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಕ್ರೋಧ- ನ್ಯಾಯಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಕ್ರೋಧ ತಪ್ಪಲ್ಲ. ಲೋಭ -ಜಿಪುಣತನ- ಅನಗತ್ಯ ವೆಚ್ಚ ಮಾಡದಿರುವುದು ತಪ್ಪು ಎನ್ನಲಾಗದು. ಹೀಗೆ ಮೋಹ- ಅತಿ ಪ್ರೇಮ - ಇದು ಪತ್ನ್ನೀಪುತ್ರಮೇಲೆ ಅಥವಾ ಬಂಧುಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ, ಭೂಮಿ-ಕಾಣಿಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಇದ್ದು ಬೇರೆಯವರಿಗೆ ತೊಂದರೆ ಕೊಡದಿದ್ದರೆ ಪಾಪವಿಲ್ಲ. ಇತ್ಯಾದಿ..
