- परशुराम की माता का नाम । विशेष—रेणुका विदर्भराज की कन्या और जमदग्नि की पत्नी थी । एक बार ये गंगास्नान करने गई । वहा राजा चित्ररथ को स्त्रियों के साथ जलक्रीड़ा करते हुए देख रेणुका के मन में कुछ विकार पैदा हुआ । पर वह तुरंत घर लौट आई । जमदग्नि को उनके मनोविकार का पता लग गया, इससे वे बहुत क्रुद्ध हुए और अपने पुत्रों से उनका पध करने को कहा । और कोई पुत्र तो मातृहत्या करने को राजी न हुआ; परशुराम ने पिता की आज्ञा से माता का वध किया । जमदग्नि ने परशु- राम पर अत्यंत प्रसन्न होकर वर माँगने को कहा । परशुराम ने पहला वर यही माँगा कि माता फिर से जीवित हो जायँ ।

रेणुका हिन्दू धर्म में सप्तर्षि में से एक जमदग्नि ऋषि की पत्नी बतायी गयी हैं। वह एक चंद्रवंशी क्षत्रिय कन्या थी । परशुराम इनके पुत्र थे।
Renuka, also known as Yellamma, is a Hindu mother Goddess worshipped predominantly in the South Indian states of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and the western state of Maharashtra. She is the mother of Parashurama, the sixth avatar of god Vishnu. She was given the name "Renuka" and acquired the status of a mother goddess before eventually being associated with the legend of Parashurama.
