A biography, or simply bio, is a detailed description of a person's life. It involves more than just basic facts like education, work, relationships, and death; it portrays a person's experience of these life events. Unlike a profile or curriculum vitae (résumé), a biography presents a subject's life story, highlighting various aspects of their life, including intimate details of experience, and may include an analysis of the subject's personality.

জীবনী সাহিত্যে বা চলচ্চিত্রের একটি শাখা। জীবনী কোনো উল্লেখযোগ্য ব্যক্তির জীবনের গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ঘটনাগুলিকে তুলনামূলকভাবে পূর্ণ তথ্য সহকারে উপস্থাপন করে। জীবনী একধরনের সাহিত্য যা কোন মানুষের জীবনের উপর লেখা হয়। জীবনী কখনও কাল্পনিক হয় না। জীবনী শুধুই মানব জীবনের বাস্তব ঘটনার কাহানী। জীবনবৃত্তান্তের সাথে জীবনীর পার্থক্য হল, জীবনীতে ব্যক্তির ব্যক্তিত্বের বিশ্লেষন করা হয়, তার জীবনের বিভিন্ন ঘটনা নিয়ে গভীর আলোচনা করা হয়। জন্ম, শিক্ষা, কাজ, সম্পর্ক ইত্যাদি হল জীবনবৃত্তান্তের অংশ, কিন্তু জীবনীর এর চাইতে অনেক ব্যাপক।
