কন্যা গর্ভজাত স্ত্রীলিঙ্গের অধিকারী শিশু। পিতা-মাতার ঔরসে জন্মগ্রহণকারী বালিকা, মহিলা কিংবা অন্য যে-কোন স্ত্রীজাতীয় প্রাণী কন্যা নামে পরিচিত। কন্যা শব্দের অন্যান্য সমার্থক শব্দ হচ্ছে - দুহিতা, আত্মজা, তনয়া, সুতা, নন্দিনী, মেয়ে ইত্যাদি। তবে বাংলা ভাষায় মেয়ে শব্দের বহুল প্রচলন লক্ষ্য করা যায়। কন্যার সমকক্ষ ও সমমর্যাদার অধিকারী পুংলিঙ্গবাচক সন্তান হচ্ছে পুত্র বা ছেলে।
