ਭੁਚਾਲ (bhucala) - Meaning in English

ਭੂਚਾਲ ਇੱਕ ਐਸੀ ਕੁਦਰਤ ਦੀ ਆਫਤ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਬਾਰੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਪਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ। ਖੋਜਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਭੂਚਾਲ ਆਉਣ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਨ ਇਹ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਕਿ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਦੀ ਤਹਿ ਜੋ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਖਤ ਸਲੈਬਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਣੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੇਠਲੀਆਂ ਸਲੈਬਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਟੈਕਟੋਨਿਕ ਪਲੇਟਾਂ ਵੀ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਇਹ ਪਲੇਟਾਂ ਆਪਸ 'ਚ ਜੁੜੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਉਪਰ ਥੱਲੇ ਹਰਕਤ ਕਰਦੀਆਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਪਸੀ ਦਬਾਅ ਇੱਕ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਤੋਂ ਹਿੱਲ ਜਾਣ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਂ ਟੁੱਟ ਜਾਣ ਕਾਰਨ ਵਧ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਪਲੇਟਾਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਤੋਂ ਖਿਸਕ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਲੇਟਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ 'ਚ ਬਦਲਾਅ ਆਉਣ ਕਾਰਨ ਆਪਸੀ ਟਕਰਾਅ ਵੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਾਂ ਆਪਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਖਹਿੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਜਿਸ ਕਾਰਨ ਧਰਤੀ ਅੰਦਰ ਝਟਕੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਭੂਚਾਲ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਧਰਤੀ ਕੰਬਦੀ ਹੈ।
