குதிரை (kutirai) - Meaning in English

குதிரை, பாலூட்டி இனத்தைச் சேர்ந்த ஒரு தாவர உண்ணி. குதிரை, பாலூட்டிகளில் வரிக்குதிரை, கழுதையைப் போல ஒற்றைப்படைக் குளம்பிகள் வரிசையைச் சேர்ந்த ஒரு விலங்கினம். கி.மு. 4000 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பே மனிதனால் பழக்கப்படுத்தப்பட்ட ஒரு விலங்கு. இருபதாம் நூற்றாண்டு வரை குதிரை, மனிதனின் போக்குவரத்துக்கும், மேற்குலக நாடுகளில் ஏர் உழுவதற்கும் உதவியாக இருந்தது. சில பகுதி மக்களின் உணவாகவும் இது இருந்துள்ளது. பண்டைய அரசுகளின் படைகளில் குதிரைப்படை இன்றியமையாத ஒன்றாக இருந்துள்ளது. குதிரைகளைக் கொண்டு பந்தயங்களும் நடத்தப்படுகின்றன. இதன் சதை, தோல், எலும்பு, முடி மற்றும் பல் போன்றவை பல்வேறு பொருட்கள் தயாரிக்கப் பயன்படுகின்றன. குதிரைகள் மிக வேகமாக ஓட வல்லவை. நின்று கொண்டே தூங்க வல்லவை.

The horse is a domesticated, one-toed, hoofed mammal. It belongs to the taxonomic family Equidae and is one of two extant subspecies of Equus ferus. The horse has evolved over the past 45 to 55 million years from a small multi-toed creature, close to Eohippus, into the large, single-toed animal of today.
