ਰੁੱਖਜਾਂ ਦਰਖ਼ਤ ਐਸੇ ਪੌਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਆਮ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਬੜਾ ਤਣਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਜੋ ਉੱਪਰ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਟਾਹਣਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਟਾਹਣੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਕਸੀਮ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ। ਟਾਹਣੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੱਤੇ, ਫੁੱਲ ਔਰ ਫਲ਼ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ। ਕੁਛ ਬੌਟਨੀ ਵਿਦਵਾਨ ਦਰਖ਼ਤ ਲਈ ਘੱਟੋ ਘੱਟ ਉੱਚਾਈ ਵੀ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਸਮਝਦੇ ਹਨ ਜੋ 3 ਤੋਂ 6 ਮੀਟਰ ਤੱਕ ਹੈ। ਕੁਛ ਲੋਕ ਸਮਝਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਅਗਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਪੌਦੇ ਦਾ ਕੱਦ ਘੱਟੋ ਘੱਟ 10 ਸੈਂਟੀਮੀਟਰ ਹੋਵੇ ਜਾਂ ਘੇਰਾ 30 ਸੈਂਟੀਮੀਟਰ ਹੋਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਰੱਖ ਹੋਵਗਾ। ਇੱਕ ਤੋਂ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਨਿੱਕੇ ਨਿੱਕੇ ਤਣੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਝਾੜੀ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
