जन्म स्थान या अपने देश को मातृभूमि बोला जाता है। भारत और नेपाल में भूमि को माता के रूप में माना जाता है, जिस जमीन अथवा भूमि का अन्नादि खाते है उसे भी मातृभूमि कहते हैं। जन्म भूमि को भी मातृ भूमि कहते हैं। कुछ यूरोपीय देशों में मातृ भूमि को पितृ भूमि कहते हैं। विश्व के कई जगहों में गृह भूमि भी कहते है।

Heimat is a German word translating to 'home' or 'homeland'.
