Stoicism is a school of Hellenistic philosophy that flourished in Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome. The Stoics believed that the practice of virtue is enough to achieve eudaimonia: a well-lived life. The Stoics identified the path to achieving it with a life spent practicing the four virtues in everyday life: wisdom, courage, temperance or moderation, and justice, and living in accordance with nature. It was founded in the ancient Agora of Athens by Zeno of Citium around 300 BC.

स्टोइकवाद,निस्पृहतावाद, जितेन्द्रियता या स्टोइसिज़म् हेलेनीय काल का दर्शन है जो कि 300 ईसा पूर्व के आसपास सिटियम के ज़ेनो द्वारा तपस्यावाद के परिष्करण के रूप में युनान में विकसित किया गया। स्टोइकवाद एक प्रकार का यूडोमोनिय सद्गुण नीतिदर्शन है जो स्वयं की तर्कप्रणाली और भौतिक जगत के दृष्टिकोण से अभिज्ञात होकर यह बताता है कि सद्गुणों का पालन करना युडोमोनिया को प्राप्त करने के लिये आवश्यक तथा पर्याप्त दोनों ही है। स्टोइकवादि मानते है कि युडोमोनिया पाने के लिये चार प्रधानतम सद्गुणों का पालन करना चाहिये और प्रकृति के अनुरुप जीवन जीना चहिये।
