Gaul was a region of Western Europe first clearly described by the Romans, encompassing present-day France, Belgium, Luxembourg, and parts of Switzerland, the Netherlands, Germany, and Northern Italy. It covered an area of 494,000 km² (191,000 sq mi). According to Julius Caesar, who took control of the region on behalf of the Roman Republic, Gaul was divided into three parts: Gallia Celtica, Belgica, and Aquitania.

गॉल पश्चिमी यूरोप का एक ऐतिहासिक और भौगोलिक विशेषण है जो फ्रांस और उसके इर्द गिर्द के प्रदेशों को कहा जाता है। इस नाम का आज कोई देश नहीं है, लेकिन पहली सदी के आसपास इस प्रदेश को गॉल के नाम से ही जानते थे। प्रसिद्ध फ़्रांसीसी राष्ट्रपति चार्ल्स दि गॉल के उपनाम का भी यही मूल था। यहाँ रहने वाली पाँच जातियों का उल्लेख मिलता है जिनमें केल्ट सबसे प्रमुख थे।
