Arcturus is the brightest star in the northern constellation of Boötes. With an apparent visual magnitude of −0.05, it is the fourth-brightest star in the night sky, and the brightest in the northern celestial hemisphere. The name Arcturus originated from ancient Greece; it was then cataloged as α Boötis by Johann Bayer in 1603, which is Latinized to Alpha Boötis. Arcturus forms one corner of the Spring Triangle asterism.

स्वाति या आर्कट्युरस (Arcturus) ग्वाला तारामंडल में स्थित एक नारंगी रंग का दानव तारा है। इसका बायर नाम "अल्फ़ा बोओटीस" है। यह आकाश का तीसरा सब से चमकीला तारा है। इसका सापेक्ष कान्तिमान (चमक) -0.04 मैग्निट्यूड है। स्वातिपृथ्वी से 36.7 प्रकाश-वर्ष की दूरी पर है और हमारे सूरज से 25.7 गुना व्यास (डायामीटर) रखता है। इसका सतही तापमान 4,300 कैल्विन अनुमानित किया जाता है। स्वाति के अध्ययन से यह शंका पैदा हो गयी है के इसका द्वितारा होने की सम्भावना है जिसमें इसका साथी तारा इस से 20 गुना कम चमक वाला है, लेकिन यह अभी पूरी तरह प्रमाणित नहीं हुआ है।
