ਕੀਨੀਆ, ਅਧਿਕਾਰਕ ਤੌਰ ’ਤੇ ਕੀਨੀਆ ਦਾ ਗਣਰਾਜ, ਪੂਰਬੀ ਅਫ਼ਰੀਕਾ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਦੇਸ਼ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਭੂ-ਮੱਧ ਰੇਖਾ ’ਤੇ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਹੱਦਾਂ ਦੱਖਣ ਵੱਲ ਤਨਜ਼ਾਨੀਆ, ਪੱਛਮ ਵੱਲ ਯੂਗਾਂਡਾ, ਉੱਤਰ-ਪੱਛਮ ਵੱਲ ਦੱਖਣੀ ਸੂਡਾਨ, ਉੱਤਰ ਵੱਲ ਇਥੋਪੀਆ, ਉੱਤਰ-ਪੂਰਬ ਵੱਲ ਸੋਮਾਲੀਆ ਅਤੇ ਦੱਖਣ-ਪੂਰਬ ਵੱਲ ਹਿੰਦ ਮਹਾਂਸਾਗਰ ਨਾਲ ਲੱਗਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਦਾ ਖੇਤਰਫਲ 580,000 ਵਰਗ ਕਿ.ਮੀ. ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਅਬਾਦੀ 4.3 ਕਰੋੜ ਤੋਂ ਥੋੜ੍ਹੀ ਜਿਹੀ ਵੱਧ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮਾਊਂਟ ਕੀਨੀਆ ਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਹਾੜ ਦੇ ਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਪਿਆ ਜੋ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਨ ਮਾਰਗ-ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਚਿੰਨ੍ਹ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਅਫ਼ਰੀਕਾ ਦਾ ਦੂਜਾ ਸਭਾ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਪਹਾੜ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਦੀ ਰਾਜਧਾਨੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਨੈਰੋਬੀ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਪੂਰਬੀ ਅਫ਼ਰੀਕਾ ਦਾ ਕੀਨੀਆ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਪ੍ਰਾਂਤ ਹੈ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਨੈਰੋਬੀ ਦੇ ਠੀਕ ਉੱਤਰ ਵੱਲ ਨੂੰ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਨੇ 13,991 ਵ. ਕਿ. ਮੀ. ਜਰਖੇਜ਼ ਪੂਰਬੀ ਉੱਚ ਭੂਮੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਇਲਾਕਾ ਮੱਲਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ। ਇਥੋਂ ਦੀ ਕੁੱਲ ਆਬਾਦੀ 36,91,700 (1990) ਹੈ। ਪ੍ਰਾਂਤ ਦੇ ਦੱਖਣੀ ਹਿੱਸੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੰਘਣੀ ਖੇਤੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਕੀਨੀਆ ਦੀ ਅੱਧੀ ਤੋਂ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਕਾਫ਼ੀ ਦੀ ਫ਼ਲਸ ਇਸੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਂਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਇਥੇ ਚਾਹ, ਫ਼ਲ ਅਤੇ ਮੱਕੀ ਵੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਪਸ਼ੂ ਵੀ ਇਥੇ ਭਾਰੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾਲੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰਾਂਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਧੇਰੇ ਆਬਾਦੀ ਕਿਕੂਯੁ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਹੈ। ਆਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਭੂਮੀ-ਸੁਧਾਰ ਸਕੀਮਾਂ ਲਾਗੂ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਨਤੀਜੇ ਵਜੋਂ ਯੂਰਪੀਅਨ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਉਪਰਲਾ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਕਾਫ਼ੀ ਘਟ ਗਿਆ। ਨਾਈਏਰੀ ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰਾਂਤ ਦੀ ਰਾਜਧਾਨੀ ਹੈ। ਇਥੇ ਕਈ ਪ੍ਰਾਸੈਸਿੰਗ ਪਲਾਂਟ ਅਤੇ ਛੋਟੇ ਪੈਮਾਨੇ ਦੇ ਉਦਯੋਗ ਸਥਾਪਤ ਹਨ।

Kenya, officially the Republic of Kenya, is a country in East Africa. Kenya is bordered by South Sudan to the northwest, Ethiopia to the north, Somalia to the east, Uganda to the west, Tanzania to the south, and the Indian Ocean to the southeast. Kenya's geography, climate and population vary widely, ranging from cold snow-capped mountaintops with vast surrounding forests, wildlife and fertile agricultural regions to temperate climates in western and rift valley counties and further on to dry less fertile arid and semi-arid areas and absolute deserts.
