इलेक्ट्रॉनिकी एवं संकेत प्रसंस्करण के सन्दर्भ में, संकेत (signal) से आशय किसी परिघटना से सम्बन्धित सूचना से है। उदाहरण के लिए, किसी विद्युत इस्तरी (प्रेस) में लगा हुआ द्विधात्विक स्ट्रिप एक संकेत प्रदान करती है कि इस्तरी का तापमान एक सीमा से अधिक है या कम। इसी संकेत के आधार पर उस इस्तरी की विद्युत सप्लाई को चालू या बन्द किया जाता है ताकि इस्तरी का ताप एक सीमा के अन्दर बनाए रखा जा सके। इसी प्रकार, टीवी का रिमोट एक संकेत पैदा करता है और उसे टिवी की ओर भेजता है जिससे टिवी के चैनेल, ध्वनि की तीव्रता आदि को नियन्त्रित किया जाता है।
