- हवाई जहाज । वायुयान । उड़न खटोला (अँ० एयरोप्लेन) ।
- मरे हुए वृद्ध मनुष्य की अर्थी जो सजधज के साथ निकाली जाती है ।
- रथ । गाड़ी ।
- अश्व । घोड़ा ।
- सात खंड का मकान । सात मंजिल का घर ।
- अपमान । अनादर ।
- जलपोत । जहाज ।
- परिमाण । माप ।
- रामलीला आदि में सजाई हुई एक सवारी ।
- राज- प्रासाद ।
- एक प्रकार का बुर्ज या मीनार ।
- उपवन । वृक्षवाटिका ।
- विस्तार । फैलाव । वितति ।
- सभाभवन या कक्ष ।
- प्राचीन वास्तु विद्या के अनुसार वह देवमंदिर जो ऊपर की ओर गावदुम या पतला होता हुआ चला जाय । विशेष—'मानसार' नामक प्राचीन ग्रंथ के अनुसार विमान गोल, चौपहला और अठपहला होता है । गोल को 'बेसर', चौपहले को 'नागर' और अठपहले को 'द्राविड़' कहते हैं ।
Description
विमान शब्द भारतीय साहित्य में एक उड़ाने वाली युक्ति को इंगित करता है। कहीं-कहीं पर यह 'मंदिर', 'स्थान' आदि का भी अर्थ रखता है। समरांगणसूत्रधार तथा वैमानिक शास्त्र आदि कई ग्रन्थों में इनका विशद तकनीकी वर्णन भी मिलता है। वर्तमान युग में वैज्ञानिक एवं संस्कृताचार्य शिवकर बापूजी तलपदे ने वेद शास्त्रों के अध्ययन के आधार पर विमान की रचना कर उस विमान का यशस्वी उड़ान प्रदर्शन मुम्बई के चौपाटी पर किया था । इस अभूतपूर्व वैज्ञानिक समारोह में मुम्बई के असंख्य नागरिकों के बीच बड़ौदा संस्थान के महाराज के प्रतिनिधि और कई संस्थाओं के मान्यवर उपस्थित थे । इस विमान का नाम था ' मरुतसखा '। शिवकर बापूजी तलपड़े के हाथ महर्षि भारद्वाज की पुस्तक वैमानिक शास्त्र लगी और उससे प्रेरित होकर उन्होंने भारत में यह पहला सफल प्रयोग किया। यह विमान उन्होंने राइट बंधु से भी पहले सन १८९५ मे उडाया था। भारतीय पांडुलिपियों मे अंशुबोधिनी नामक एक प्राचीन पुस्तक विमानों से संबंधित है।
