एक रोग जिसमें आँव गिरती है और जोड़ों में पीड़ा तथा हाथ पैर में सूजन हो जाती है मुँह भी सूज जाता है और शरीर पीला पड़ जाता है । यह रोग मंदाग्निवाले को अजीर्णा में भोजन करने से होता है ।

आमवात या रूमेटीज्म शरीर की वह दशा है जिसमें जोड़ों में लगातार दर्द बना रहता है। आमवात किसी एक रोग का नाम नहीं है बल्कि इसके अन्तर्गत २०० से अधिक स्थितियाँ (लक्षण) समाहित हैं। आजकल इन सभी रोगों को १० मुख्य श्रेणियोँ में बाँटा जाता है जो निम्नलिखित हैं-
