वह बातचीत जो किसी तत्व के निर्णय के लिये हो । तर्क । शास्त्रार्थ । दलील । विशेष—'वाद' न्याय के सोलह पदार्थों में दसवाँ पदार्थ माना गया है । जब किसी बात के संबंध में एक कहता है कि यह इस प्रकार है और दूसरा कहता है कि नहीं, इस प्रकार है, और दोनों अपने अपने पक्ष की युक्तियों को सामने रखते हुए कथोप- कथन में प्रवृत्त होते हैं, तब वह कथोपकथन 'वाद' कहलाता है । यह वाद शास्त्रीय नियमों के अनुसार होता है, और उसमें दोनों अपने अपने कथन को प्रमाणों द्वारा पुष्ट करते हुए दूसरे के प्रमाणों का खंडन करते हैं । यदि कोई निग्रहस्थान में आ जाता है, तो उसका पक्ष गिरा हुआ माना जाता है और वाद समाप्त हो जाता है ।

Description

वाद एक प्रत्यय है जिसका प्रयोग यदि किसी भी शब्द में शामिल किया जाए तो वह उसके अर्थ में एक विशेष प्रकार का परिवर्तन कर उसकी व्याख्या को किसी विशेष पक्ष में वर्णित कर देता है। सामान्यतः यह प्रत्यय के रूप में प्रयुक्त होता है जैसे - राष्ट्रवाद, नारीवाद, देववाद, उदारवाद... आदि।
