Java is one of the Greater Sunda Islands in Indonesia. It is bordered by the Indian Ocean to the south and the Java Sea to the north. With a population of 151.6 million people, Java is the world's most populous island, home to approximately 56% of the Indonesian population. Indonesia's capital city, Jakarta, is on Java's northwestern coast.

जावा हे इंडोनेशिया देशाचे एक बेट आहे. जावा हे आकाराने जगातील १३व्या क्रमांकाचे व जगातील सर्वाधिक व सर्वात घनदाट लोकसंख्येचे बेट आहे. इंडोनेशियाची राजधानी जाकार्ता ह्याच बेटावर वसलेली आहे व देशाच्या लोकसंख्येच्या ६० तक्के लोक जावा बेटावर राहतात. ऐतिहासिक काळात बलशाली हिंदू राज्ये नांदलेल्या आणि वसाहतयुगात महत्त्वाची डच वसाहत असलेले जावा आधुनिक इंडोनेशियाच्या अर्थकारणात व राजकारणात महत्त्वाचे स्थान राखून आहे.
